Bible verses for anxiety: how to pray when your mind won’t stop
Short answer: Philippians 4:6–7, Matthew 11:28 and Romans 15:13 are among the most comforting Bible verses for anxiety. A simple way to use them is a breath prayer: slowly breathe in on the first half of a verse and out on the second. Faith and professional care go together; if anxiety is overwhelming, please also talk to a doctor or counsellor.
Philippians 4:6–7
“In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6–7
This is an invitation, not a scolding. You bring the worry; God guards the heart.
Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
Jesus speaks to the tired, not the tidy.
Romans 15:13
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
Hope here is a gift that God fills you with, not something you have to manufacture.
